<p>Thank you for posting this! There's a lot of miscellaneous things I've run across as I've been filling out the EW Magnus, so this should be really helpful. Mermaid's Tear has me at a complete loss. A few items are classified as drinks when they're technically more like ice cream or slushies (Melon/Strawberry Shaved Ice); maybe those two should go under Food with Vanilla Ice Cream and Melted Ice Cream? And then what about Chunk of Ice - maybe that belongs with Mermaid's Tear? </p><p>There's a few things I feel are vaguely related that might warrant a new category, so I'll share my ideas. Small Knife, Sculpting Knife, Holy Grail, Goldfish Bowl, Pot of Air, Platter of Parting, Large Teamug - more or less the kind of stuff you'd have lying around the kitchen, right? I was thinking something like Cutlery, Utensils, or Tools (more for the knives I suppose)... I can't quite think of a good term that would include the dishes too. There's also Cloudy/Rainy/Rainbow Emblem and Firefighting Medal. Odds and ends, Trinkets maybe? I'm not sure if that one would wind up large enough, but it might work as a kind of "Miscellaneous" catch-all category. One more grouping: Ashes, Evil Ashes, Incense, Charcoal, Deluxe Charcoal. Maybe in the same vein as Chunk of Ice, Small Fire, Large Fire? Not sure what to say about that one. </p><p>Then there's a couple things that almost fit into an existing category, but not quite (maybe I'm just being TOO technical): Mattress/Broken Mattress could maybe work for Toiletry, Jill's Jewelry Box could possibly be Money (it's valuable stuff?), or even Earrings (but that's too specific in this case I'd say, there's more than just earrings in it). Silk could maybe go in Clothing, although it isn't actually <i>made</i> into something wearable, it's just the raw material. </p><p>The Produce section is pretty huge, but I'm not too sure how it could really be split up, or if it even really needs it. There's a ton of Magnus, so in the big picture it isn't overwhelmingly large. Fruit could possibly get its own listing, but it IS a type of produce so... </p><p>Also, several Quest Magnus contain immaterial things, such as a song/secret/something verbal, or a kind of feeling (fatigue/stress), and... air. Clouds too. Just throwing that out there. </p><p>Okay, I think that's everything I wanted to mention! I'll be sure to post again if I run into anything else. </p><p>Edit: Ah, one more thing! I put the Fortunes under Stationery because they're basically paper, but they might belong somewhere else? On that note, what about books; they go under Stationery as well I'm assuming? </p>

<p>Haha, you definitely care. This is the greatest organizational challenge on the Wiki's plate right now, so I appreciate the backup. I suppose it's time for dialoguing. Starting with the easiest to solve: </p>

• Ashes/Charcoal: Rock?
• Mermaid's Tears: I've had a well defined category in my head describing non-meat animal products like this or Saber Dragon Horn or even Silk, but I haven't known quite what to call it. Wikipedia uses the term Animal product. Would that work? Additionally, might we create a parallel category for certain Magnus that contain a Plant, such as Oakwood, which are obviously plant products but are not literally whole plants?
• Pots and knives: Utensils is the word I've been leaning toward. Wikipedia divides kitchen and eating utensils, but that's probably not necessary for what we're going for.
• Emblems and medals: Trinket seems like a good word; I think the wider context would be one of art, similar to Statues.
• The slushies: these types of things have always been considered drinks to me (i.e. ordered as drinks, usually off of drink menus), but this might vary regionally. They could probably pass as either.
• Mattresses/ jewellery boxes: Furniture?
• Clouds, fire, ice: all parts of the natural world, but difficult to label. I've got nothing for now, but I'm optimistic.
• Feelings/information: I've considered things like Information, Story, Advice, Emotion, Attitude. We might end up using more than one.
• Paper products: stationery sounds good for now.

<span style="color:red;">Edit: </span>Roratude, I'm posting a list of Magnus that haven't been categorized yet so we can get a sense of how many Magnus might be in each and what categories we will need to make. I want it to be editable by both of us though so you can find it here. Keep in mind that many come from Origins which we don't have descriptions for yet, so we won't have full details about what the Magnus contains other than the title and picture. Some are also for EWatLO Quest Magnus, so expect some red links. One last thing: our Wiki's bot can very easily be made to execute mass, uniform edits such as adding a single string of text to a multitude of pages. If you'd prefer to let it fill in the "Contains" information to free up your own time, just let me know. </p>

<p>What can I say, I like organizing things. :P </p>

• Ashes and Charcoal could probably go in rock, since it includes minerals and similar things. I can't think of anywhere else they could really fit in.
• I think Animal product would work great! There's probably some things that have already been entered that would actually fit that category better, most notably the Unicorn/Pegasus Horns (I don't mind moving stuff if need be). I really like the idea of a Plant product category too; stuff like Birch Sap Gum and Incense would fit there wonderfully. Several other things in produce aren't really edible either as I recall, so that would be a great home for them as well.
• I like Trinket and Utensils too.
• Furniture is close... furnishings? Homeware could work. Along those lines, for a lot of the Sedna structures, maybe infrastructure or Construction?
• I like the idea of a separate category for books. The diaries would probably go there too. The blank notebook straddles the line, but it can always be both. :P
• Nature/Intangible stuff: hmmm, nothing comes to mind at the moment, but I might think of something.

<p>Thanks, that's a useful page to have! If I think of things that have already been categorized but might fit into the new ones we're discussing, should I add them to that page as well? I might be able to get descriptions for some of the more questionable Origins Magnus; I have access to my NG+ file and can carry over my Gathering, but I didn't collect anywhere near everything since I only played it once (I am going to play through it again once I'm done with Eternal Wings, though). I just checked, and you can bring up the Gathering as soon as you start the game, so there's no skipping through masses of cutscenes. And I'll keep the bot in mind, thanks! </p>

<p>I don't know how my college managed to time-strap me on the first day of the quarter, but so it is. </p>

• Anyhow, Animal product, Plant product, Trinket, Utensil, and Book are go.
• Furnishing sounds less abstract than Homeware and will definitely work.
• I like Infrastructure, but I also like Architecture. Per Wikipedia: "A general term to describe buildings and other physical structures," which leaves my inner organizer giddy.
• I'll keep pondering nature...

<p>That would be great to add recategorizable Magnus to the page! I'll try to get back to this in more detail tomorrow. </p><p><span style="color:red;">EDIT:</span> About the Origins Magnus descriptions, maybe you could take a look at the Greythorne Magnus to confirm that they're all toys other than the storybook or song. <span style="color:red;">EDIT 2:</span> I found them actually. I don't think there's any others that need research right now. </p>

• Blank Magnus -> Technology.
• Heartflask -> Through its 5 incarnations, it begins as technology and ends up containing the first stages of a life force (presumably Kalas's), so Technology for the first 3, Technology/Other Life (what we've technically called "Unclassified Life Form" which sounds as atrocious to me as it probably does to you) for the final 2.
• Magna Mess-Up -> Industrial Material seems closest, after all industry produces waste.
• The Beast's Chains, The Beast's Collar, The Beast's Shackles -> Whatever this Beast is, its strictures seem to be an integral part of its being, so I'm inclined towards Animal Product.
• Harp of Slumber -> A tool of trade for the musician, this can be uncomfortably lumped in with Tool.

<p>Those sound good to me! And I approve of Architecture over Infrastructure, for what it's worth. :P I keep feeling like there's this perfect term for the natural stuff right on the edge of my brain and it keeps floating away from me... go figure, huh?
Oh, I've been meaning to ask you what you meant by the little -+ you put next to the stuff I listed that I was unsure about. At the risk of looking like a complete idiot, I have no idea what it means ;_;
On a side note, thanks for adding all the Quest Magnus pages! </p>

• Architecture is go then. I might take out a few that are just <i>too</i> different from that description and put them under Tool since that's become a catchall for items of specialized commerce or activity.
• Same frustration here. /: Logically, Element is the perfect word, but it's too loaded in the context of the series. If nothing reveals itself, "Raw Material", "Natural Resource", or simply "Nature" will have to do.

<p>Haha, sorry, that does look confusing in retrospect. :p The + was basically a check-mark, which might have been obvious on its own, but I used the - to indicate a break between our comments, so you were left with something ambiguous to say the least.
And I can't describe how awesome it felt to add the final Quest Magnus! The culmination of two years of tinkering and occasional frustration has finally arrived with pages/images for all Magnus from both games and an infobox to hold pretty much all information about every one of them. It's only basecamp with a mountain of stubs left to climb, but it's still an amazing realization for me. :) </p>

• Raw Material or Natural Resource could work in the absence of something better... hmmm...
• Warm Cheers/Icy Jeers are kind of in the middle of two categories... they're a response to something liked/disliked, so I see how they could go into Information(communication? message? I dunno), but it seems like they could fit in with Experience/Feeling...
• Expression is an interesting one, but if you're going for strictly creative/artistic then that might be a little too broad of a term... for example, Cheers/Jeers is more of an expression, but not an artistic one. Creativity? The phrase Artistic Expression itself could even work.
• Girl's Thoughts should probably go into whatever Expression winds up being; it's actually from a little girl's diary in Mintaka who doesn't like all the violence from the Empire. I'll add the description momentarily so you can decide.
• Voice cards could possibly go in Expression also? <i>Maybe</i> Information, but they're mostly kind of silly voice clips. Hell, Voice could possibly even be its own category to contain all the verbal Magnus, like the songs/stories etc.
• Warrior's Memories might fit into Experience better? They're kind of like... more of a feeling, maybe... hmm. (I'm bad at this, can you tell? :P)
• Well-Known Story, Information? Actually I just realized how it could fit into Expression; kind of like a classic tale everybody knows, like fairy tales - is that what you were going for? In-game, it's mostly referring to something more akin to a well-known rumor, so it could go either way really.

<p>Well a basecamp is better than a hole in the ground! :D Climb the stubs we shall! I understand how huge of an accomplishment this is so far, and thank you again for all the work you put into the informative infoboxes. C: The Quest Magnus should be pretty easy to fill out, because they can't be sold or used in any SP Combos, so I don't need to have them with me if I'm filling stuff in (testing possible SP combos takes SO long, just, omg). And that awesome list of EW Sidequests will be an invaluable resource in that regard as well. ;3 </p>

• ...which if funny because Nature is what I was leaning toward of the three. Let's keep hmmm...ing for now.
• I think Experience should cover things which are decidedly abstract and based on perception. Cheers and jeers seem like obvious sounds or information that have been captured.
• How about Creative Expression? It's not perfect, but creative often implies some type of leisurely pursuit (as opposed to an invention or innovation) and expression often implies something verbal (as opposed to painting or sculpting), even though both terms <i>can</i> cover more than what we're intending.
• I think changing Girl's Thoughts is a good idea.
• They could potentially double in whatever expression ends up being. I think they should at least stay in technique though.
• Warrior's Memories is another difficult one. It's a collection of experiences to the warriors, but to the outsider it seems as if it would be concrete information. Also, I love the mysticism of Baten Kaitos that lets mementos to turn into memories. :D
• That <i>is</i> what I was thinking, but the Magnus isn't at all what I thought. You're right, it should be under information.

<p>The work was definitely worth it. I'm not entirely sure why, but what I do know is that Baten Kaitos had a great effect on me back in the day. I guess I'm still captivated. :p But yeah, Quest Magnus shouldn't be too hard. I finished Picture/Constellation/Camp Magnus very quickly and Quest won't be different. </p>
