Nearly a Year's Worth of Updates!
That's right folks, it's been 11 months since the Wiki's last official update! Don't mistake this for stagnation though. Since January of last year we've reached twice the number of articles, have developed or completed entire sections of the Wiki, and our database is steadily growing and improving! Let me break down what's new:
- Enemies
- Our coverage of Origins Enemies went from one of the least developed portions of the Wiki to probably the most developed earlier this year. With fantastic transcription help from BenoitRen of the Baten Kaitos Forum and images from Lleb of baten-kaitos-origins.com, we now have the full descriptions and stats of every enemy from Baten Kaitos Origins; check them out over here! Additionally, we are continuing to c…
New Concept Art and Interview from Monolith Soft and Yasuyuki Honne
Near the beginning of the month, the website of Baten Kaitos series co-developer Monolith Soft was updated with job openings for its Kyoto branch and possible concept art for an unrevealed upcoming 3DS game. The concept art released was illustrated by Baten Kaitos series co-designer and lead artist Yasuyuki Honne[1].
Additionally, the latest in the company's series of internal interviews has been released, this time with Kyoto studio staff[2]. Honne's portions are translated below (courtesy of NeoGAF[3]:
Monolith Soft's Next Major RPG Revealed for WiiU
From Nintendo of America's PR email regarding this morning's Nintendo Direct conference:
A New Game from Monolith Soft: Tetsuya Takahashi and the team at Monolith Soft that worked on Xenoblade for Wii are working on a new game. A video trailer for the game was shown in the Nintendo Direct.'[1]
From Nintendo of America's YouTube channel as seen during the conference:
Pretty exciting! This will be Monolith Soft's WiiU debut and Tetsuya Takahashi's next major project. No word on whether any major Baten Kaitos staff are involved, though given Baten Kaitos Origins lead writer Koh Kojima's major involvement in Xenoblade Chronicles, I wouldn't be surprised to see him return.
Updates for the New Year
Hello all and welcome to 2013! A lot has happened on the Wiki in the last month and a half, including a fantastic milestone to bring us into the New Year.
- Article/Readership Milestones
- The absolute, most important update today: on December 31, 2012 the Baten Kaitos Wiki reached 1000 pages! This is a major milestone and I'd like to thank everyone who's contributed to that total (notably ViniciusFernandes who helped us to achieve this before the year ended). In addition, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 the Wiki logged a record 7503 page views. (It's also worth mentioning that this number was blown out of the water Dec. 19 - Dec. 25 with 19600 page views, but this was unique to having a Spotlight, which you can read about below.) A big thank you to all o…
Previous Headlines: Famitsu Poll, Xenoblade, and Concept Art from Monolith Soft and Yasuyuki Honne
The Wiki will now relay news related to the Baten Kaitos series through blog posts. This is a list of all prior headlines.
- June 15, 2011
Following on the news of May 19, 2010 (see below), Monolith Soft's website is updated with new job openings and with them, the revelation of the finished version of the image that Baten Kaitos co-designer Yasuyuki Honne was previously seen working on. There is some similarity in art style with that of the Baten Kaitos series (though less than originally seeming) and some have also speculated that the image could be portraying Diadem on Earth.
